The main characteristics of TPU are: a wide range of hardness, and with the increase of hardness, its products still maintain good elasticity and wear resistance, high mechanical strength, outstanding cold resistance, good processing performance, oil resistance, water resistance, mold resistance, good recycling. TPE has greater elastic loss than TPU at high hardness.
TPE is the abbreviation of Thermoplastic Elastomer, which means Thermoplastic Elastomer. It is a special functional material with plastic plasticity and rubber elasticity. Thermoplastic elastomer TPE has high elasticity, high strength, high resilience of rubber, and has the characteristics of injection molding processing, environmental protection, non-toxic safety, a wide range of hardness, excellent coloring, soft touch, weather resistance, fatigue resistance and temperature resistance, can be recycled to reduce costs.
The TPE material based on SEBS is prone to low strength, easy precipitation, poor resilience, poor weather resistance and fatigue resistance, and the phenomenon of dripping and smoke in combustion when adding a large number of inorganic flame retardants to improve the flame retardancy. The reduction of these comprehensive properties affects the service life and operation safety of products, and limits the application of low-smoke halogen-free flame retardant TPE materials in the field of electronic and electrical connection lines, especially the materials used in new energy charging pile cables.
At present, PVC material is used for most of the insulation protection materials of automobile wiring harness at 105℃ and below temperature level. PVC materials used in domestic automobile wire harness often have shortcomings such as extrusion surface, poor low temperature performance. In view of this, combined with the special environment (such as narrow space, poor environmental heat dissipation, frequent mutual friction, etc.) and special requirements (thin wall, high-speed extrusion, etc.) and cost control requirements of automobile wire harness, it is necessary to study PVC material for automobile wire harness to further improve its performance.
